A programme about soft bodies in hard places, six international artist-filmmakers surveil the eerie control of urban life. A ghostly torso contorts under a communications satellite, an abandoned Panopticon prison yields to the landscape, obsolete sci-fi technologies strobe and enchant, Chicago skyscrapers pierce the cosmos, two women pace the empty streets of two dark European cities, and a high-rise at night leaks an anthology of private moments.

Klaus vom Bruch (Germany), Christoph Girardet & Matthias Müller (Germany), Tessa Lynch (UK), Amie Siegel (USA), and Fern Silva (USA/Portugal).

Soft Cells is part of Glasgow Short Film Festival 2018 and is the third screening in Uncanny Loop, an ongoing programme of artists’ moving image connecting the contemporary urban experience with the Gothic mode. Curated by Marcus Jack for Transit Arts with the support of Arsenal Berlin.
